| 裏面の説明 | A crude and highly schematised horse prances left, its rectangular head rendered in angular relief and its body formed from a series of crescents. Four vertical, stylised legs descend below the body, with three horizontal lines visible behind the hindquarters. Beneath the horse, a crab-like motif is composed of a central pellet from which four wavy arms radiate, the arms terminating without pellets. Numerous pellets are scattered across the upper field. An elongated pellet positioned directly above the horse's back occasionally bears lateral projections resembling legs, evoking a secondary insectoid or crab form. The area above the tail features a 'coffee bean' motif, appearing either plain or furnished with short spiked arms. Between the horse's foreleg and mouth, a weak S-shape or reverse spiral is present. The exergue is defined by a curved double line infilled with a triangle-and-pellet arrangement. |

The Early Chute type sits at the beginning of Atrebatic gold coinage in southern Britain, deriving its abstract design from Macedonian staters that filtered into Britain through decades of continental trade and Gaulish intermediaries — Philip II's coinage, distorted through successive copying, is the ultimate ancestor. The Chute hoard of Wiltshire, from which this type takes its name, provided the key assemblage that allowed Sills and others to sequence these early issues with confidence.
Sills 300 and 301 represent distinct die groupings within the type, a distinction the BMC classification does not capture.
