| Obverse description | Laureate head right, rendered in the schematic Celtic style with boldly modelled facial features and layered hair treatment. The bust occupies the left portion of the flan, with the inscription COM appearing in the field to the right, denoting the dynastic patronymic '(Son of) Commios'. The design is framed by a pellet border, though on this irregular flan the border is only partially visible. As a contemporary counterfeit struck on a bronze core with a thin gold wash, the die work is cruder than official issues, with a notably uneven and porous surface. |
