Obverse description Plain field bearing a rectangular incuse tablet with rounded corners, within which the abbreviated royal name TINC is rendered in bold Latin capitals. The legend serves as a dynastic identifier for the Atrebatic king Tincomarus, son of Commios. The field surrounding the tablet is entirely unadorned, consistent with the minimalist epigraphic style characteristic of early Atrebatic coinage. The flan is irregular and somewhat broad, typical of a contemporary counterfeit struck on a base metal core subsequently gold-plated.
