| 背面描述 | A stylised horse shown in profile facing right, rendered in the schematic Celtic manner with a beaded or pellet-studded mane along the neck and a distinctively curved, moon-shaped rump. Subsidiary symbols, including a ring or annulet and a cluster of pellets, appear in the field above the horse, consistent with the Hayling Wreath Right type as catalogued under ABC 812. The legs are depicted in an abstracted, disjointed fashion characteristic of late Iron Age British coinage. No legend or inscription is present. The overall design closely imitates the prototype struck by the Atrebates and Regini, though with cruder execution indicative of a contemporary counterfeit. |

Contemporary counterfeits of Belgic quarter staters are well-documented from the late pre-conquest period, when the volume of coinage circulating across southern Britain created both the demand and the cover for plated forgeries. These were not crude provincial imitations — the dies used were often cut by hands familiar with the prototype, and many plated examples passed in trade without detection. The bronze core of this piece would have been struck first, then wrapped or dipped; the gold film on survivors is frequently intact where the coin avoided heavy handling.
