The figure is rendered in the medieval Gothic style characteristic of English hammered gold coinage of the period. A continuous legend in uncial Latin letters encircles the effigy within the outer border, reading the royal titulature of Henry as king of England and France and lord of Aquitaine. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered production, with the legend partially visible around the periphery. |
