Reverse description A bold cross pattée composed of fleurs-de-lys, forming a floriated cross with a central quatrefoil at the intersection. Each of the four angles between the arms of the cross is occupied by a crowned ermine spot, referencing Louis XII's dual sovereignty over France and Brittany. The design is contained within a double beaded inner circle, with the Latin devotional legend running along the outer margin. The reverse field retains the characteristic flat, hand-struck surface typical of hammered gold coinage of the period.
