Reverse description A floriated cross with a central quadrilobe motif occupies the full field, its arms terminating in ornamental fleurs-de-lis. The four cantons are decorated alternately with two crowned Gothic letter F's (for Franciscus) and two fleurs-de-lis, arranged in a diagonally alternating pattern. The surrounding Latin legend is separated from the cross design by a beaded inner border, consistent with the hammered coinage style of Francis I.
