Obverse description Enthroned figure of Duke Albert of Bavaria in full regalia, seated frontally within an elaborate Gothic canopied throne (chaise), holding an upright sword in the right hand while the left hand rests upon a shield bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria and Holland. The architectural throne features richly detailed Gothic tracery characteristic of late 14th-century Netherlandish coinage. The legend encircles the central device, identifying the issuer in abbreviated Latin. The overall composition follows the 'chaise d'or' type popularized in the Low Countries during this period.
