The legend is disposed across the field in a compact arrangement typical of small-denomination Golden Horde fractional dirhams. The script is bold but somewhat crudely engraved, reflecting the utilitarian nature of this anonymous provincial issue. The flan edges are irregular and show typical hammered flattening consistent with hand-struck coinage of the Bulghar mint in the late thirteenth to early fourteenth century. |
