Abd al-Malik al-Muzaffar ruled Valencia as a client of the powerful 'Abbadid king al-Mu'tamid of Seville, a dependency that shaped the coinage. The fractional dinar format proliferated across the taifa kingdoms precisely because no single ruler commanded the gold reserves or political authority to sustain a full-weight dinar series — striking fractions was the practical accommodation of fragmented Andalusi power after the Umayyad caliphate's collapse in 1031.
Abd al-Malik's reign ended when al-Mu'tamid of Seville absorbed Valencia in 1065, making this a four-year window of issue at most.
