The composition conveys the divine sanction of imperial authority over military affairs. An officina letter appears in the central field, and the mint abbreviation ALE is placed in the exergue. The reverse legend CONCORDIA MILITVM, broken across the field, celebrates the harmony between emperor and army. The style is typical of the Alexandrian mint under Diocletianic reform coinage. |
