Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Theodosius I, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The emperor's effigy displays elaborate drapery over the cuirass, with the pearl diadem clearly articulated across the brow. The circular Latin legend runs along the rim of the obverse field. The portrait conveys imperial authority through its formal, frontal presentation of military and civic regalia.
