Obverse description Frontal bust of a crowned ruler depicted in Byzantine style, wearing a jewelled crown adorned with pendilia and a bejewelled loros or imperial garment ornamented with pellets. The effigy is rendered in a highly stylized manner characteristic of Crusader imitative coinage, with large almond-shaped eyes and schematic facial features. Partial Greek legend visible in the field to the left and upper portions of the coin. The figure holds or is flanked by indistinct regalia, consistent with typological borrowing from contemporary Byzantine folles.
