Obverse description The Virgin Mary enthroned facing, crowned and nimbed, holding the Christ Child on her left knee who raises his right hand in blessing. The figures are rendered in high relief in the late medieval Hungarian florin tradition. A beaded inner circle frames the central design, with the legend running in the outer field interrupted by small rosette stops. The legend reads BATHORI · SIGISMVND · or similar, identifying the issuing prince.

Reverse description Standing figure of Saint Ladislaus (László), the patron saint of Hungary, depicted full-length facing, crowned and armored, holding a long battle-axe (halberd) in his right hand and an orb in his left. The date 1594 appears in two parts in the field to either side of the figure. A beaded inner circle encloses the design, with the Latin legend running in the outer margin with rosette stops, reading + S · LADL · REX · or similar, identifying the saint as King Ladislaus.
