| Descrizione del dritto | Full-length frontal figure of St. John the Baptist, robed in flowing drapery, standing within a beaded inner circle. The saint cradles the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) in his left arm, rendered in the late-Gothic style typical of Rhenish florins. A circular Latin legend in uncial characters surrounds the figure, invoking the titles of Emperor Charles V. The bold, deeply struck relief and irregular flan are characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the early sixteenth century. |

The Lords of Bergh held the right to strike gold florins under imperial privilege, a concession that smaller lordships in the Low Countries fiercely protected as a mark of political standing. Charles V's long reign meant these titles appeared on coinage across a 35-year span, though actual production at Bergh was intermittent and volumes were almost certainly small. The Delmonte reference for this type is among the rarer entries in that catalogue.
