Each quarter bears a heraldic shield corresponding to the dynastic arms of Bergh, Culembourg, Egmond, and Mörs-Saarwerden respectively, reflecting the alliances and territorial claims of the ruling house. The composition follows the standard heraldic quartered-cross type common to Flemish and Rhenish gold florins of the period. A circular Latin legend in uncial script surrounds the entire design, identifying the coin as new gold money of Bergh. |

The Lords of Bergh held the right to strike gold florins under imperial privilege, a concession that smaller lordships in the Low Countries fiercely protected as a mark of political standing. Charles V's long reign meant these titles appeared on coinage across a 35-year span, though actual production at Bergh was intermittent and volumes were almost certainly small. The Delmonte reference for this type is among the rarer entries in that catalogue.
