Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbed and draped in a camel-skin garment, standing on a small plinth with arms raised slightly outward in a gesture of benediction; a radiate disc appears at the centre of his chest. The saint is depicted in the Gothic manner characteristic of Aragonese florins, directly derived from the Florentine prototype. A small square mintmark appears to the upper left of the figure. The legend, reading clockwise, surrounds the central device within the coin's border.
