Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbed and draped in a camel-skin garment, standing on a small plinth with arms raised slightly outward in a gesture of benediction; a radiate disc appears at the centre of his chest. The saint is depicted in the Gothic manner characteristic of Aragonese florins, directly derived from the Florentine prototype. A small square mintmark appears to the upper left of the figure. The legend, reading clockwise, surrounds the central device within the coin's border.

Reverse description A large, boldly rendered fleur-de-lis occupies the central field, its three foliated petals and scrolled lateral elements executed in high relief in the Gothic style. The base of the fleur-de-lis terminates in a rounded knop. The surrounding legend, naming Martin as King of Aragon, runs clockwise around the border of the flan, which is irregular as typical of hammered medieval gold coinage.
