| Obverse description | A fully armored knight on horseback galloping to the right, raising a drawn sword aloft in his right hand; the horse is depicted in dynamic motion with legs extended. A large circular shield bearing the Visconti serpent (biscione) device is visible to the left of the horse. The peripheral Latin legend runs clockwise around the coin, interrupted by stops and line breaks corresponding to the multi-word title of Filippo Maria Visconti. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Lombard hammered goldsmithing, with bold relief and energetic composition. |
