| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Beatrix facing right, rendered in high relief with flowing hair, centrally positioned within the square field. The surrounding legend reads BEATRIX KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN, with the date 30 APRIL 1980 inscribed along the lower arc, commemorating her inauguration. The border of the flan is decorated with a series of raised spherical bosses arranged along the inner edges of the square, a design element reminiscent of the traditional Dutch 5-cent coin format. The portrait is executed in a naturalistic style with fine detail in the hair and facial features. |

| Reverse description | The full Royal Arms of the Netherlands occupies the central field, depicted in fine relief: a quartered escutcheon bearing the Nassau lion, supported by two rampant lions, and surmounted by the royal crown with a cross finial. A foliate mantle flanks the shield, and at the base a ribbon bears the motto JE MAINTIENDRAI. The border is decorated with a continuous row of raised spherical bosses along the inner perimeter of the square flan, consistent with the obverse design. |

Not an official state issue — this piece was struck privately to mark the inauguration of Queen Beatrix on April 30, 1980, the day Juliana abdicated after 32 years on the throne. The transition was overshadowed by significant civil unrest in Amsterdam, where protesters opposing the housing crisis clashed with police and military units deployed to the city center.
