The inscription is arranged in two or three stacked lines occupying the majority of the flan, with the word 'Allah' or a pious invocation appearing above. The legends are characteristic of late Ilkhanid copper coinage, executed in a bold, angular hand typical of early 14th-century Baghdad mint production. Muhammad Khan was the last Ilkhan in any meaningful sense — a figurehead installed by the Jalayirid amir Hasan Buzurg after the Ilkhanate had effectively dissolved following Abu Sa'id's death in 1335. The Baghdad mint continued striking in his name from 1336 until his death in 1338, a formality that masked the complete transfer of real authority to the Jalayirids. Copper fals from this transitional window are poorly documented precisely because nobody was keeping careful administrative records during a succession crisis.
