The central legend proclaims Muhammad as the Messenger of God, following standard Abbasid-derived formulae for provincial copper coinage. Above the central inscription, the name of the emir Ibrahim ibn al-Aghlab appears, asserting his authority as ruler of Ifriqiya. The flan is irregular and the strike is typical of hammered provincial production, with some weakness at the edges.
