Reverse description Epigraphic reverse bearing multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script arranged across the central field, enclosed within a single or double linear circle. The central legend proclaims Muhammad as the Messenger of God, following standard Abbasid-derived formulae for provincial copper coinage. Above the central inscription, the name of the emir Ibrahim ibn al-Aghlab appears, asserting his authority as ruler of Ifriqiya. The flan is irregular and the strike is typical of hammered provincial production, with some weakness at the edges. The overall style reflects the aniconic epigraphic tradition of early Islamic coinage in North Africa.
