Tabariya — ancient Tiberias — was among the earliest Arab-administered mints to strike copper following the Umayyad monetary reform of 696–697 under Abd al-Malik. That reform standardized the gold dinar and silver dirham along purely epigraphic lines, but the fals remained a local affair, with provincial mints operating under loose central oversight. Anonymous attribution was the norm rather than the exception for copper in this period, making precise dating within the Umayyad span largely a matter of typology and find context rather than any explicit mint date.
