| Opis rewersu | The reverse displays the so-called 'Egypt type' design, featuring an eight-pointed star formed by two superimposed squares, a characteristic motif of Mamluk fals coinage struck at the al-Qahira (Cairo) mint. Within the interstices and central field of the star, Arabic inscriptions in Naskh script record the mint name and additional regnal or religious legends. The geometric star device serves both as an ornamental device and a compositional framework for the surrounding epigraphic content. The flan exhibits the irregular edges and uneven surface relief typical of hammered Mamluk copper coinage. The strike is moderately well-centred for the type. |
