The script is in early Kufic style, characteristic of Umayyad provincial administrative coinage of the mid-eighth century. The flan is irregular with minor chipping consistent with hammered production. |

Al-Qatiran b. Akama served as governor of Mosul during the final convulsions of Umayyad rule, a period when provincial governors were striking copper fals with increasing autonomy as central Damascus authority collapsed under Marwanid succession disputes. This piece dates to the years immediately preceding the Abbasid revolution of 750, which extinguished the Umayyad caliphate entirely — making administratively attributed fals from this region and window genuinely terminal issues of a dying dynasty.
