The lower portion of the field carries the mint and date formula, recording the Hijri year 570 or 571 and the mint of Damascus. A decorative border or marginal legend may frame the inscription on certain die varieties, with arabesque floreate ornaments noted on specific type classifications. The flan is irregular and shows the characteristic uneven strike of hammered Ayyubid copper coinage, with areas of flat strike and surface corrosion.
