| Obverse description | Irregular copper flan struck by hammer, bearing a bold Arabic legend in the central field reading 'al-Nasir li-Din Allah' (the divine epithet of the Zaidi Imam al-Nasir Muhammad). The inscription is rendered in a coarse, informal naskh script typical of late 17th-century Yemeni copper coinage, disposed across two or three lines within the field. The flan edges are irregular and ragged, reflecting the rudimentary striking conditions of provincial Zaidi mint production. A partial circular border, visible on better-struck specimens, frames the central legend. |
