| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crudely hammered copper flan bearing a multi-line Arabic Kufic or Naskh legend arranged in horizontal registers across the field, recording the name and titles of Sultan al-Mu'izz Aybak, first ruler of the Mamluk Sultanate. The inscription fills the entire die area without a defined border, consistent with early Mamluk fals coinage. The surface displays heavy patination and green cuprite deposits characteristic of long-buried copper coinage of the mid-13th century. |
