| Reverse description | Central field displaying a multi-line Arabic mint and date legend in naskh script within a plain circular border. The inscription records the mint name Dimashq (Damascus) and the Hijri year of striking, appearing in two documented varieties corresponding to AH 781 and AH 782. The lettering is arranged in horizontal registers across the field, with raised Arabic characters showing the typical bold, utilitarian engraving style of Mamluk provincial copper issues. The flan is irregular with uneven edges characteristic of hand-cut copper planchets. Patination is dark olive-brown with areas of green cuprite corrosion. |
