Reverse description A lyre depicted centrally within an olive or laurel wreath, its strings and crossbar clearly rendered in relief. Beneath the lyre, a bucranium (ox skull) is prominently displayed, a symbol commonly associated with sacrificial ritual in the coinage of Kos. The Greek civic legend ΚΩΙΩΝ appears to the left and ΕΥΚΡΑΤ to the right of the central devices, naming both the issuing community and the magistrate Eukrates. The wreath encloses all devices and legends, tied at the base.
