Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Jean the Blind, Count of Luxembourg and King of Bohemia, depicted in a stylized Gothic manner typical of hammered sterlings of the early 14th century. The ruler is shown with a crown above, flanked by heraldic devices, within an inner beaded circle. The portrait is rendered in low relief with schematic facial features characteristic of Luxembourgish coinage of this period. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin letters reads +EIWANES DI GRA REX B, identifying the issuer as Johannes by the grace of God, King of Bohemia.
