| Reverse description | Shield of the arms of Monaco — bendy of lozenges argent and gules — surmounted by a princely coronet adorned with floral or foliate elements. The motto or secondary legend referencing DEO IVVANTE appears on a ribbon or scroll across the shield, visible as 'DIO.IVV' in the central band. The Latin legend surrounding the shield records the prince's additional titles as Duke of Valentinois and Peer of France, with the date appearing at the beginning of the legend. The entire composition is characteristic of mid-17th century heraldic coin design. |
