| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large cross pattée extends from the centre of the coin, its arms reaching to the inner circle and dividing both the inner field and the surrounding legend into four equal quadrants. The four sections of the legend contain the syllables MA, RA, NO, and DE, forming the phrase MARANO DE (from Merano), struck in Latin uncial characters. The bold cross design is characteristic of the Tyrolean groschen coinage of the late 13th century. |
