By 1771, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was three years into the First Partition negotiations that would formalize in 1772, with Poniatowski's government effectively hostage to Russian influence following the War of the Bar Confederation. Small silver issues like this one continued to be struck in Warsaw even as the political order that authorized them was being dismantled from outside.
Kopicki 2330 places this among the documented Warsaw dwugrosz emissions of the reign — a series with enough minor die variation to reward close attribution work.
