The portrait is rendered in the naturalistic style typical of the Flavian dynasty, conveying the emperor's mature, strong-featured physiognomy. The surrounding Latin legend runs clockwise along the periphery of the flan. The flan itself is irregular, as is characteristic of hammered Roman imperial bronzes of this period. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The goddess Roma personified is depicted seated left upon a cuirass, rendered in a dignified, martial pose. In her extended right hand she holds a small figure of Victory, while her left hand grasps a parazonium (a short sword or dagger), emblematic of Roman military power. A grouping of shields is visible in the background behind the figure, reinforcing the martial iconography. The field bears the senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the central type, as was standard practice for Roman aes coinage. The reverse legend ROMA appears above or around the central figure, identifying the personification. |
