| Description du revers | The reverse depicts a dramatic scene of Trajan on horseback, mounted and in military attire, riding right over a fallen barbarian enemy who lies beneath the horse's hooves — a powerful propagandistic composition celebrating Roman martial supremacy. A second figure, likely a defeated Dacian warrior, appears in the field. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently placed in the lower exergue, flanking the base of the central composition. The surrounding legend, disposed around the periphery of the field, dedicates the issue to Trajan as Optimus Princeps on behalf of the Senate and Roman people. |
