| Obverse description | Radiate or laureate bust of the emperor Hadrian facing right, depicted draped and cuirassed, with the paludamentum visible at the shoulder, rendered in the three-quarter frontal convention typical of Hadrianic bronze coinage. The portrait exhibits the characteristic short beard and curled hair of Hadrian's mature iconography. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer border of the flan, framing the imperial effigy. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with Roman imperial aes coinage of the early second century AD. |
