| Opis rewersu | The personification of Clementia stands facing left in the field, rendered as a draped female figure wearing a long stola and palla. She holds a patera in her extended right hand and a long vertical sceptre in her left, both attributes emblematic of imperial mercy and divine authority. The senatorial authorisation marks S and C flank the central figure in the lower field, left and right respectively. The encircling legend CLEMENTIA AVG P P COS III is distributed around the periphery, with COS III appearing in the lower exergual area. The composition reflects the Hadrianic programme of promoting virtuous imperial qualities through the medium of bronze coinage issued by senatorial authority. |
