| Descrizione del dritto | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, with short curled hair and a slight beard rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition characteristic of his reign. The emperor is depicted with a draped and cuirassed bust, the drapery visible at the truncation. The encircling Latin legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS runs along the outer border, partially visible through wear. The portrait is modelled in high relief with confident die-cutting typical of the Rome Mint's Hadrianic bronze coinage. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The personification of Clementia stands facing left in the field, rendered as a draped female figure wearing a long stola and palla. She holds a patera in her extended right hand and a long vertical sceptre in her left, both attributes emblematic of imperial mercy and divine authority. The senatorial authorisation marks S and C flank the central figure in the lower field, left and right respectively. The encircling legend CLEMENTIA AVG P P COS III is distributed around the periphery, with COS III appearing in the lower exergual area. The composition reflects the Hadrianic programme of promoting virtuous imperial qualities through the medium of bronze coinage issued by senatorial authority. |
