The emperor's hair is depicted in the layered, combed-forward style fashionable during his reign. A circular Latin legend runs along the full periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor with his full titulature. The overall relief is bold, typical of Julio-Claudian bronze coinage struck at Rome. |
