| Opis rewersu | The goddess Roma personified is depicted seated right upon a cuirass and shield, holding a spear in her left hand while extending her right hand to clasp that of the emperor Hadrian, who stands to the left holding a scroll. The composition commemorates the Adventus ceremony, the formal ceremonial arrival of the emperor in Rome, here presented as a symbolic encounter between Hadrian and the genius of the city. The legend PONT MAX TR POT COS III ADVENTVS AVG surrounds the central design, with the large senatorial mark of value S C flanking the figures in the field. The scene conveys themes of imperial legitimacy and the bond between the emperor and the city of Rome.
