The effigy is executed in high relief in the Antonine artistic tradition, conveying imperial authority through the combination of the radiate crown — denoting the dupondius denomination — and the military cuirass. The surrounding legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P is disposed clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The coin exhibits an irregular, broad flan typical of hammered Roman base-metal coinage of the early second century AD. |
