| Description du revers | The personification of Fides (Faith/Loyalty), draped in flowing robes, stands in a three-quarter pose turned to the left. In her extended right hand she holds a patera, the libation dish associated with sacrificial ritual, while her left hand supports a cornucopiae, symbolising abundance and prosperity. The senatorial authority for the issue is denoted by the large S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the central figure in the field. The legend FIDES PVBLICA above identifies the allegorical subject as Public Fidelity, a virtue prominently promoted during Galba's brief reign to legitimise his accession. |
