Obverse description Within an open wreath of laurel branches tied at the base, the abbreviated provincial title and date are rendered in three lines across the field: DVC / GEL / [date]. The lettercutting is bold and deeply struck in the hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Dutch provincial coinage. No border legend is present; the wreath encloses the entire inscription. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, as is typical of hand-hammered copper issues of this period.

Reverse description The crowned arms of Gelderland — a rampant lion on a quartered shield — are displayed centrally within a multilobed (polylobe) inner frame, itself enclosed by a beaded circle. The circumferential legend runs around the outer field, separated by a cross pattée at the beginning. The heraldic shield is surmounted by a crown, and the overall composition is typical of the provincial duit type struck for the Duchy of Gelderland during the Dutch Republic period.
