Obverse description A fully armored knight on a charging horse advancing to the right, brandishing a drawn sword aloft with his right hand. Beneath the horse, the arms of Gelderland appear in the field. The legend, rendered in Latin, encircles the design and terminates with the privy mark of the issuing mint master. The composition is executed in high relief, characteristic of piedfort production, with bold sculptural detail in the horse's musculature and the knight's armor.
