Two wild men (Wildemänner), depicted as bearded nude figures wreathed in foliage, stand as heraldic supporters to either side of the shield, each holding a pine branch or club. The composition rests on a decorative foliate base adorned with a grotesque mask in the lower field, the whole executed in high relief in the exuberant late Baroque style characteristic of Swiss cantonal coinage of the period. |
