| Obverse description | The obverse depicts Saint John the Baptist, nimbate and robed, standing at left and presenting the banner of the Order to the Grand Master Peter Raymond Zacosta, who kneels before him in a posture of devotion, facing left. The scene is rendered in a Byzantine-influenced Gothic style typical of Hospitaller coinage. The legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the figures within the coin's border, identifying both the patron saint and the Grand Master. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a frontal standing figure of Christ Pantocrator, nimbate, raising his right hand in benediction and holding the Gospels in his left, depicted in a hieratic Byzantine style. He is enclosed within a beaded mandorla formed by a double elliptical border, with a field of six-pointed stars distributed around the figure within and about the mandorla. The surrounding uncial Latin legend encircles the design along the outer border of the flan. |
