| Obverse description | Saint John the Baptist, nimbate and robed, standing at left, presenting the banner of the Order to Grand Master Fabrizio del Carretto, who kneels facing him in a posture of reverence. The investiture scene is rendered in the Gothic hammered style typical of Hospitaller coinage from Rhodes. The legend surrounding the scene reads in abbreviated Latin identifying the Grand Master and the patron saint. The field is plain, with the figures occupying the full height of the flan. |
