Obverse description The gilt bronze obverse features a central sunken field depicting a panoramic view of the city of Dubrovnik with its characteristic rooftops and sea, inscribed DUBROVNIK in the lower portion. Surrounding the central scene are ten smaller oval and rectangular relief cartouches depicting notable landmarks and symbols of Dubrovnik, including city gates, towers, the Onofrio Fountain, a sailing ship, the Rector's Palace, and a coastal landscape labeled BABIN KUK. The word LIBERTAS appears in the upper-left cartouche, referencing the historic motto of the Republic of Ragusa. Two suspension holes are pierced at the top of the piece.
